Mila’s One-Year Milestone Session at French Park

Mila’s milestone session at French Park in Cincinnati, OH, was the perfect blend of playful energy, sweet moments, and a little bit of adventure. One-year-olds keep things exciting, and Mila was no exception—constantly on the move, full of joy, and completely fascinated by everything around her.

When Mila’s parents chose French Park for their session, they knew they wanted a location with natural beauty and a relaxed atmosphere. The tall grasses and open spaces provided the perfect backdrop for capturing Mila’s personality. The evening light was warm and golden, giving everything a soft, dreamy glow. It was a little chilly, but Mila didn’t seem to mind—she was too busy exploring!

From the very beginning, Mila made it clear that sitting still wasn’t part of her plan. She was all about movement—crawling straight toward the camera, giggling, and sticking her tongue out. She picked up bits of tall grass, took wobbly steps, and soaked in every new texture and sight. Her joy was contagious, and the result was a collection of images that truly captured her adventurous spirit.

Mila rocked two adorable outfits. First up, a mauve tulle dress with a delicate pink bow, then changed into a white lace romper from our client closet. A dried flower crown with a long, flowing ribbon completed the look, adding a whimsical touch to the session.

To complement the setting and outfits, we collaborated with Mila’s parents to incorporate a few carefully chosen props: a wooden rocking chair, a textured cream blanket, and a mauve “one” balloon to go with her first outfit. For her second outfit, we ventured further into the fields and used a white bench and blanket.

We make sure to include parents in milestone sessions, and it is so worth it. The way Mila lit up when they tossed her in the air or snuggled her close made for some of the most heartwarming moments of the evening. Some of our favorite shots were the individual moments between Mila and each parent—simple, yet so full of love. They are just as much a part of her journey growing up as she is. Their overall color palette was soft yet moody—with warm mauves, neutrals, and earthy browns. Mila’s mom wore light neutrals, while dad balanced the tones with a darker outfit.

This session was a beautiful reminder of how fleeting this stage of childhood is. Mila was all smiles, full of wonder, and just so much fun to photograph. One-year-olds don’t stay this little for long, but these images will help her family hold onto these moments forever.
